How to Diagnose and Isolate F01
Step 1: Locate the NTC sensor: on most Miele dishwashers, it is mounted on the sump housing (underneath the tub floor) or on the exterior of the circulation pump housing. Access from beneath after removing the machine from the cabinet, or through the bottom panel.
Step 2: Disconnect the sensor connector (2-pin). Measure resistance with a digital multimeter: at room temperature (approximately 20C/68F), Miele NTC sensors should read 18,000-22,000 ohms (18-22 kΩ). Far outside this range = sensor failed.
Step 3: If resistance is correct at room temp: the fault may be intermittent at operating temperature. Warm the sensor gently with a hair dryer and monitor resistance change — it should decrease smoothly. Erratic jumps indicate an internal crack.
Step 4: Check connector pins: look for green/white oxidation or corroded appearance. Clean with electronic contact cleaner and a fine brush. Apply a thin coat of dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion.
Step 5: Inspect the wiring from sensor to board for any break or damage — follow the route, looking for pinch points or abrasion against metal parts.
Step 6: If sensor and wiring are confirmed good: the board measurement circuit is suspect. However, this is rare — exhaust all other possibilities first. Board replacement for a suspected ADC failure should be confirmed by a Miele-authorized technician with diagnostic equipment.
