The short answer
A dishwasher that starts and then stalls is waiting on a condition it cannot satisfy: water in, water out, a door it can confirm, or a temperature it cannot reach. On a Crosley a fill that is too slow or absent comes first, because a dealer-channel unit is often connected to whatever tap, drain, vent or outlet the new room already had, which is where the fault comes from. Supply, filter, door and loading are owner work; the pump, heater and control behind them are not.

The causes and their order
- A fill that is too slow or absent — Top of the list on this brand: a dealer-channel unit is often connected to whatever tap, drain, vent or outlet the new room already had, which is where the fault comes from. A partly closed valve, a kinked hose or a silted inlet screen leaves the machine short of water within its allowed time.
- A drain step that cannot complete — Second most likely: The machine must empty between stages; a blocked filter, air gap or hose stalls the programme rather than stopping the machine.
- A door latch that drops out mid-cycle — Third most likely: A latch marginal enough to open under the movement of hot water stops the programme exactly as if the door had been opened.
- A heating step that never completes — Fourth and the least likely here: Where a machine waits for temperature it cannot achieve, the cycle appears frozen although the pump is running normally. These platforms run for a long time, so wear is real — but it is slower to arrive than the install faults above it.
Where to start and what follows
- Listen for water entering in the first minute — Silence where water should be arriving points at the supply rather than at the machine. It goes first because it is the cheapest thing to rule out and it decides which half of this list you are in.
- Open the door at the stall and look for standing water — Water in the sump at the stall is the strongest clue available and it points at the drain path.
- Check whether the racks or a tall item are pressing on the door — A door held a fraction open by the load is the most common version of this fault.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Close the taps before any hose comes off, and never bypass a door or lid switch to run the machine open.

Call when the supply is open, the filter and air gap are clear, the door latches firmly and the float moves freely, and the cycle still stalls at the same point.
