Most of the time on a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher this comes down to one of two findings: a slow fill from a restricted valve, screen or supply, or a latch dropping out mid-cycle. Unplug the machine or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Open a stalled machine carefully: it may be holding hot water and steam, so crack the door and let it clear before reaching in.
When to call a technician
Call a technician when the cycle stalls at the same phase with a clean filter, a proven fill and a good drain, or when the machine repeatedly abandons cycles. Call sooner if the machine is stalling at the heat step while the interior stays cool, because that is an element or thermostat fault rather than a programme quirk.
