The short answer
Cycle faults on a AIRMSEN machine are not random. On a compact or countertop machine with one spray arm, a small sump and a short hose run, the machine stops exactly where its conditions are unmet, so watching it fail once tells you more than any guess.
What you are actually seeing
- It stops early with a dry or nearly dry tub — A fill condition not met: supply valve, inlet screen or pressure.
- It stops with water standing in the bottom — A drain condition not met. The drainage page is where this goes.
- The cycle runs far longer than it used to — Waiting for a temperature it cannot reach.
- It pauses mid-cycle and resumes if the door is reopened — The latch or its switch failing to confirm intermittently.
- It repeats a stage endlessly — A sensor the machine cannot satisfy, most often about water level.
- Not this fault: nothing at all when start is pressed — That is a no-start, and it has its own page.
Causes, most likely first on this machine
- Drainage not completing — First: a machine that cannot empty will not advance, and the filter is where that investigation starts.
- Fill not completing — Second: a closed valve, a silted inlet screen or low pressure, all of which look like a control fault from the front.
- The door latch not confirming — Third: an intermittent switch pauses the cycle without explaining itself.
- Heating not reaching temperature — Fourth: the cycle stretches rather than stopping, which is why it is so often described as the machine being slow rather than faulty.
- A level or turbidity sensor reading wrongly — Fifth: the machine behaves oddly at several stages rather than at one, and that pattern is what to report.
- The control board — Last: reached by elimination and rarely the actual answer.
Check in this order, and why
- Watch one full failure and note the stage — Dry tub, standing water, or endless running. One observation removes most of the list.
- If it stalls with water, clean the filter and check the drain — That is the likeliest single cause of a stalled dishwasher.
- If it stalls dry, check the supply valve and the inlet screen — Especially after any plumbing work nearby.
- Test the latch by ear across two cycles — An intermittent confirmation is the signature of a failing switch.
- Only then treat it as a sensor or control fault — Those need a meter, and three cheaper causes sit above them.
What an owner can safely check
- Run a short cycle and stay with the machine — Note the stage, the sounds and anything shown. This observation is the most valuable part of the diagnosis.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before reaching into the sump or opening any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Opening the door mid-cycle releases scalding steam: open slowly and stand back. Close the supply valve before disturbing any fitting. Expect glass in a sump and wear gloves. Do not pour drain chemicals into a stalled machine — they remain where your hands will be.
When to call a technician
Call once the stage is identified and its cheap causes are eliminated: a stall at drain with a clean filter, or a stall at fill with an open valve and a clean screen. Call sooner if the machine trips a protective device at a particular stage, if it fails differently every time — which points at a sensor or control rather than a subsystem — or if it stops with standing hot water that will not clear.
