Causes, ranked for this refrigerator
- Cord or plug damaged — Most likely — a cord crushed by the cabinet being pushed back is common on units that get moved, and the damage is at the back where nobody looks. A clean result here does not just remove one part; it removes everything that depends on it.
- Compressor overload cut out on heat — Common — the pattern is unmistakable once you know it: works, stops, and comes back only after hours of standing. It is worth being sure about this one rather than half-sure, since everything after it assumes a verdict.
- Cabinet moved and left on its side — Regular — oil migrates out of the compressor when a cabinet is laid down, and starting it too soon afterwards causes a no-start that time alone fixes. This is the entry most often blamed correctly and diagnosed carelessly, so take the extra minute.

- First — the cord along its whole length — Look at the plug pins for discolouration. A browned pin is a poor connection making heat.
- Second — whether the unit restarts after standing — Unplug the unit for a few hours, then plug it in and listen. A start after a long rest is a thermal cut-out and points at the coil and the airflow.
