The short answer
On a Blaze refrigerator, an outdoor gasket ages faster than an indoor one, and heat and ultraviolet light are why. Cleaning, reseating and levelling are owner work; a gasket that has hardened in the sun is a part.
What you actually see
- A visible gap at one corner of the closed door — Gaps almost always start at the top hinge corner or the bottom of the handle side.
- Frost forming near one edge of the freezer section — A local frost patch marks the exact point where humid air is entering.
- The seal has come out of its channel — A gasket lifted from the groove will look attached and seal nothing.
Causes, ranked for this refrigerator
- Dirt or sticky residue on the sealing face — Most likely — syrup, milk or grease on the gasket face stops it releasing cleanly, and the seal tears itself slightly on every opening. A clean result here does not just remove one part; it removes everything that depends on it.
- Something inside holding the door open — Common — it is invisible until you look for it, which is why an owner can chase a gasket for weeks. It is worth being sure about this one rather than half-sure, since everything after it assumes a verdict.
- Gasket lifted out of its retaining channel — Regular — the seal is pushed into a groove or held by the inner door panel, and cleaning or a hard pull can lift a section clear. This is the entry most often blamed correctly and diagnosed carelessly, so take the extra minute.
What to check, in order
- First — the sealing surface — Look inside the folds of the gasket. Residue collects there and holds the fold open.
- Second — what is on the door shelves — Close the door slowly and watch the last inch. Contact before the door is home tells you where to look.
Checks an owner can do safely
- Step 1. Check the cabinet leans slightly back — Open the door a hand-width and let it go. It should close itself. If not, wind the front feet down until it does.

- Step 2. Warm a set gasket and reshape it — A gasket that has taken a set can sometimes be revived with a warm damp cloth held against it for a few minutes, then worked back into shape by hand.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off, so treat a stored charge as live even when the cord is in your hand. Do not run the machine with a panel off to watch what happens, and do not defeat any switch that cuts power when a door opens.
When this becomes a service call
One condition decides it. If the seal passes the paper test all the way round and the cabinet still runs constantly, the fault is not the door and the cooling checks are the right page.
