Frigidaire Dishwasher i60: Water Is Not Reaching Temperature
What You Probably Noticed First
Dishes coming out with greasy film. Food residue clinging where it used to clean. Water spots that were not present before. Your dishwasher has been running at suboptimal temperature for several cycles before the board finally flags i60. Frigidaire wash algorithms need 130-155 degrees F for proper grease emulsification.

How Temperature Sensing Works
The board monitors water temperature through an NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor. This sensor reads approximately 50,000 ohms at room temperature and drops to approximately 4,000 ohms at 150 degrees. The board samples this resistance continuously. When the heating element is energized and resistance does not drop within the expected time, i60 fires.
Three Components to Test
NTC thermistor (154227504, $10-$20). Most common i60 cause. Clips into a bracket near the sump where it contacts wash water. Two-pin connector. Sensor calibration drifts with age, reporting incorrect temperatures.
Heating element (154825001 Gallery/2018+ standard, 154482901 older standard, $45-$80). Concealed in the tub floor. Draws 1,200-1,500 watts. Cannot be visually inspected without accessing the unit bottom.
Control board heating relay. Least common cause. The board's relay that switches element power can fail open internally.
Safety First — Know the Risks
Live 120V wiring in a wet environment is one of the most dangerous DIY scenarios. Water + electricity = serious shock risk. Our techs are licensed and insured — let them handle the risk.

Diagnostic Sequence
Thermistor first (5 minutes). Pull breaker. Follow wires from the NTC board connector to a small probe near the sump. Disconnect. Measure resistance: 45,000-55,000 ohms at room temperature is normal. Infinite or under 1,000 ohms means failure.
Element second. Disconnect element wires. Measure resistance: 15-25 ohms is healthy. Infinite means burned through. Under 5 ohms is a partial short.
Board relay last. If both above test good, restore power and start a cycle. Use a clamp ammeter during the heating phase (5-10 minutes in). Should see 10-12 amps. Zero amps confirms board relay failure.
Repair
Thermistor: Unclip from bracket, unplug connector, snap in new one. Ten minutes.
Element: Pull dishwasher from cabinet, tip on back. Element mounts with nut and gasket from below. Remove nut, push old element up into tub, extract from inside. Install with fresh gasket. Torque snug plus one-quarter turn (overtightening cracks the tub port).
Board: Inner door panel removal, connector transfer, ESD precautions. $120-$200 for parts.
The Real Cost of DIY
Average DIY attempt: $150-400 in tools you may use once, plus the risk of further damage. Our diagnostic visit costs $0 — we find the problem and give you an honest quote.

Can You Still Use the Dishwasher?
Some models halt completely. Gallery models with sanitization may continue but disable heated dry and sanitize, extending wash times. Dishes come out wetter and potentially unsanitized. The CDC recommends 150 degrees minimum for sanitization of dishes used by immunocompromised individuals.
Don't Void Your Warranty
Opening your appliance yourself may void the manufacturer warranty. Our repair comes with a 90-day guarantee, and we document everything for warranty compliance.

Prevention
NTC thermistors average seven to ten years. Heating elements typically last the full appliance life unless scale builds up. Monthly citric acid cleaner cycles dissolve mineral scale on the element surface before it insulates the element and forces it to overwork.
FAQ
Is i60 the same as a tripped breaker? No. A tripped breaker kills all power (dark display). i60 means power works but the heating circuit does not function.
My water heater is set to 140. Is that enough? No. Pipe heat loss means water arrives at 100-120 degrees. The dishwasher element provides the final boost.
Can i60 cause a fire? No. The concealed element is surrounded by water during operation. Failure means no heat, not excess heat.
Most i60 repairs are same-visit fixes. Our technicians carry thermistors and test elements on-site. Book a diagnostic.
