Most of the time on a EuroDesign dryer this comes down to one of two findings: a blocked condenser unit or its filters, or a drain hose that is kinked, too high or badly routed. On a condensing dryer the water has to go somewhere every cycle, and a full tank, a blocked condenser or a stalled pump each stops the machine in a way that looks like a drying fault.
What the owner actually sees
- Water in the base of the machine or on the floor — A condensate path that is overflowing rather than draining.
- Cycles stopping early with the load damp — The machine halting because it believes it cannot handle any more water.
- The condensate tank fills quickly, or the condenser filter has never been removed — A condensing dryer has two filter stages and a water-handling path a vented machine does not have.

What it usually turns out to be, in order
- A blocked condenser unit or its filters — Ranked first on a EuroDesign dryer because this platform has more filters than owners expect — and a European dryer or washer will complain about a filter long before it complains about a component. On a condensing dryer the condenser is a second filter stage and it clogs with fine lint.
- A drain hose that is kinked, too high or badly routed — Second here: the cabinet, the hinges and the ventilation channel are part of the machine here, and they are the part nobody re-checks after fitting day.
- A condensate pump that is blocked or not running — A small pump lifts the water to the tank or the drain hose.
What to check first, second and third
- First: Open the lower access door, remove the condenser and rinse it. — It sits first because this platform has more filters than owners expect — and a European dryer or washer will complain about a filter long before it complains about a component.
- Second: Look at the hose route and its height at the standpipe. — Next, and it needs no tool.
- Third: Listen for a brief pump sound near the end of a cycle. — Only once the checks above are clean.

Safety
Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker before removing the condenser, opening any access panel or reaching into the sump — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Condensate is not clean water: it carries lint and detergent residue, so wear gloves and do not let it stand in the cabinet. Never run a condensing dryer with the condenser removed.
Where the owner work ends
Call a technician when the tank fills correctly but the pump never runs, when water is collecting in the base of the machine, or when the tank-full indicator will not clear with a clean, correctly seated tank. Call sooner if water has been standing in the cabinet, because it will reach a connector eventually.
