What you observe

- Settings change or revert on their own — A control lock, a mode, or a supply that is dipping and resetting the board.
- The condensate tank fills quickly, or the condenser filter has never been removed — A condensing dryer has two filter stages and a water-handling path a vented machine does not have.
- NEAR MISS — the machine is completely dead with no display — That is a supply or thermal fuse problem and belongs on the will-not-start page.
Likely causes in order

Safety
Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never clear an over-temperature code by disabling or bypassing a thermostat or thermal fuse: those devices exist because a restricted dryer full of lint is a fire risk, and the code is describing exactly that condition.
Where the owner work ends
Call a technician when a code returns after a reset with a proven clear duct and clean sensors, when the panel is unresponsive on a machine that still runs, or when the machine repeatedly reports over-temperature despite good airflow. Call promptly for any over-temperature code you cannot explain, because that is the one dryer code with a fire behind it.
