The short version
Owning a Dacor dishwasher is mostly a matter of filters, doors and water. When something goes wrong it is usually one of those three, and each problem class has its own page beneath this one. Keep the machine in mind — a luxury built-in line specified into a designed kitchen and expected to run quietly for a long time — rather than the category average.
The symptoms, and the ones that mean something else
- Dishes come out dirty or wet — Spray arms, the filter, temperature and loading. Almost always maintenance rather than a fault.
- Water left standing in the base — A drainage blockage in the filter, the hose or the disposer connection.
- Water on the kitchen floor — The door seal, a connection behind the machine, or foam from the wrong detergent.
- A bad smell when the door is opened — Residue in the filter, the sump or the door gasket folds.
- A code on the display or unresponsive pads — Usually the supply or the membrane rather than the board.
- NEAR MISS — a burning smell or a tripping breaker — Stop and isolate the machine; the electrical-safety page is the right one.
Ranked causes for this brand and appliance
- Filter and drainage problems — A loaded filter causes poor cleaning, stalled cycles, smells and slow draining, which is four complaints from one cause. Ranked first here because the mechanical parts are heavy-duty and long-lived, so on this line the electronics and their inputs sit above the machinery in any honest ranking.
- Fill and water supply — A restricted inlet screen or a partly closed valve gives a fill that is technically present and practically inadequate.
- Door, latch and seal faults — Hinge springs are the other half of the same story.
- Heating and drying — Temperature gates the wash chemistry as well as the drying, so a heating fault produces several apparently unrelated complaints.
- Controls and codes — Supply interruptions and locks explain most of the rest.
Share of faults by component group — No counted fault corpus exists for this brand and appliance, so no share is published here.

Before you touch anything
Safety
Unplug a dishwasher, or switch off its circuit, before the base panel or the fascia comes off — this is one of very few appliances that combines mains voltage with standing water in the same cabinet. Turn the supply valve off before disturbing any hose. allowlist:unplug-before-service
When this becomes a service call
A great deal of what goes wrong with a dishwasher is owner work: the filter, the spray arms, the door gasket, the drain hose, rinse aid and the supply valve. A technician is needed once the base panel or the fascia has to come off, because that means live components in a cabinet that also holds water. Mention the installation when you call — these appliances are integrated into cabinetry, levelled against adjacent units and fed from a dedicated supply.

What this page does not cover
This page is generalized across every family and model line sold under the Dacor name, and it routes rather than diagnoses. Each problem named above has its own page below, and that page is the more specific answer. Not covered here: the diagnostic procedure for each symptom, which lives on the pages below, along with model-specific codes, part numbers and teardown sequences.
