The short version
When a Dacor dishwasher stops cleaning well, resist the urge to blame the detergent first. Blocked spray arms and a full filter change results far more than any product does. It matters that this is a luxury built-in line specified into a designed kitchen and expected to run quietly for a long time, because that is what decides the order below.
What you observe
- Food residue left on the upper rack only — The upper spray arm is not getting water or not turning.
- Dishes come out clean but soaking wet — A drying problem, which on most machines is rinse aid and final rinse temperature.
- The same spot is dirty every cycle — Something is shadowing that area from the spray.
- NEAR MISS — standing water in the base — That is a drainage fault, and it will also ruin cleaning until it is fixed.
Ranked causes for this brand and appliance
- Spray arm jets blocked or arm not turning — The jets silt up with debris and hard-water scale until the pattern collapses, and a tall item can stop the arm turning at all. Ranked first here because this is a built-in platform with a lot of sensing and a lot of self-protection, so the machine usually stops itself for a reason it has detected rather than failing outright.
- Filter full, so dirty water is recirculated — A machine washes with the water it has; once the filter is loaded it cannot clean that water and the debris goes back onto the dishes.
- Wash water not hot enough — Detergent depends on temperature, and a machine fed from a long cold run or with a failing heater never reaches the point where the chemistry works.
- Inlet restricted, so the machine washes with too little water — A silted inlet screen or a half-closed valve gives a fill that is technically sufficient and practically inadequate.
- Hard water, salt or rinse aid neglected — Chalky glasses and dull cutlery are the recognisable signature.
Check in this order, and why
- Spin each spray arm by hand and hold it up to the light — First — Blocked jets and a stiff arm are both visible in seconds and explain most poor results.
- Lift out the filter stack and look at what is in it — Second — It is the fastest check available and the most common single cause.
- Run the hot tap at the sink before starting a cycle and note how long it takes to run hot — Third — It tells you what temperature the machine is actually being fed.

Unplug the dishwasher or switch off its breaker before removing the base panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Where the owner fix ends
Call when the arms spin freely and spray cleanly, the filter is clean, rinse aid and salt are topped up and the water is hot, but results are still poor. What remains is the heater, the wash pump or the diverter, all under the tub. Mention the installation when you call — these appliances are integrated into cabinetry, levelled against adjacent units and fed from a dedicated supply.
