When a Dacor dishwasher will not complete, treat the point at which it stops as the diagnosis. A machine that halts with water in the bottom is a drainage problem; one that halts dry is a fill problem; one that runs on and on is waiting for heat. What sits behind that ordering: this is a luxury built-in line specified into a designed kitchen and expected to run quietly for a long time.
The symptoms, and the ones that mean something else
- It stops partway with water standing in the base — Drainage is the condition it cannot satisfy.
- The cycle runs far longer than usual and never ends — Usually waiting for a wash temperature it cannot reach.
- It restarts the same phase over and over — A condition is being met and then lost again, which points at a level or heat sensor.
- NEAR MISS — it completes but cleans badly — That is a cleaning-performance fault, not a cycle fault.
Causes, most likely first on this line
- Fill not completing — The machine waits, times out and abandons the phase, which looks like a random stop. Ranked first here because the appliance is trimmed into cabinetry, which makes clearance, levelling and the supply behind the panel the causes that outrank ordinary component wear.
- Drainage blocked, so the cycle cannot move on — The machine will not advance until the sump is empty, and a blocked filter, a kinked hose or a plugged disposer spigot all leave water behind.
- Level or temperature sensor misreporting — Sensor faults produce the phase-repeating behaviour owners describe as the machine going round in circles.
- Water not reaching wash temperature — Most cycles hold at a phase until the target temperature is met, so a failed heater turns a normal wash into an endless one.
- Control board fault — It becomes credible only when water, drainage, heat and the latch have all been proven good.
What to check first, second, third
- Listen at the start of the cycle for a steady fill rather than a trickle — First — The sound of the fill tells you immediately whether the water side is healthy.
- Open the door and look for standing water in the base — Second — It settles in one glance whether drainage or fill is the stalled condition.
- Note whether the same phase repeats rather than the cycle stopping outright — Third — Repeating is characteristic of a sensor that keeps changing its mind.

- Clean the filter and the sump — Lift out the filter stack, rinse it, and clear any debris from the sump and the drain screen.

Unplug the dishwasher or switch off its breaker before removing the base panel or reaching into the sump; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. When this becomes a service call
Call when the filter is clean, the drain path is clear, the fill sounds right and the machine still stalls or never finishes. What remains is the heater, the pump, a sensor or the board, all of which are under the tub on live terminals. Mention the installation when you call — these appliances are integrated into cabinetry, levelled against adjacent units and fed from a dedicated supply.
