When a Dacor dishwasher shows a code or stops responding, work from the supply inwards. The board is the expensive item at the end of the chain and the least likely thing on it. Keep the machine in mind — a luxury built-in line specified into a designed kitchen and expected to run quietly for a long time — rather than the category average.
What the owner observes
- A code or letter combination on the display — The control naming the input it can no longer reconcile.
- Some pads work and others do not — A membrane or ribbon pattern rather than a board failure.
- The panel is completely dark — Usually the supply rather than the control.
- Settings are forgotten between cycles — Points at an unstable supply or a latched control state.
- NEAR MISS — it runs but stalls partway — That is a cycle fault; the control is reporting correctly.
Ranked causes for this brand and appliance
- Membrane or touch panel damaged by steam — The signature is a group of adjacent pads failing together while the rest work normally. Ranked first here because the appliance is trimmed into cabinetry, which makes clearance, levelling and the supply behind the panel the causes that outrank ordinary component wear.
- A sensor input out of range — The code is naming the input, not the part that failed. Second, because the mechanical parts are heavy-duty and long-lived, so on this line the electronics and their inputs sit above the machinery in any honest ranking.
- Supply interruption leaving the control latched — A proper isolation for several minutes clears it, and if the fault returns immediately you have learned something for free.
- Control board failed — It is a credible conclusion only after supply, locks, membrane and inputs have been checked in order.
- Door switch input stuck — A latch switch that never opens or never closes confuses the control about whether a cycle may proceed.

- Write the code down exactly, including any flashing rhythm — Second — An exact code is the most useful thing a technician can be given before a visit.
- Isolate the machine for several minutes and restore it — Third — It clears the most common cause at no cost and takes almost no time.
- Confirm each check above has been made before ordering a board — Fourth — It is the most expensive part in the machine and the easiest one to buy unnecessarily.

What remains is the membrane, the ribbon or the board, all behind the fascia on live terminals.
