The short answer
A Beko BWM washer that will not drain is usually blocked, but there is a second possibility worth ruling out first because it costs nothing: the drain hose may be arranged so that the machine empties itself as fast as it fills. A hose laid flat to a low outlet siphons continuously, and the machine never reaches the level it is waiting for.
What you observe
- The drum is found part-empty during the wash — The hose is siphoning: it has no high loop.
- The pump strains and the level does not drop — A blockage, and the filter is the first place to look.
- Nothing is heard at the drain step — A dead pump, a thermal cut-out or a control fault.
- Water drains slowly and clothes come out soaked — A partial restriction rather than a complete block.

Causes, most likely first on this family
- Drain hose arranged without a high loop — First to rule out because it is free, and it produces a fault that no part can fix.
- Blocked pump filter — Second, and the leading mechanical cause on any front-loader.
- Kinked or crushed drain hose — Third, and very common after the machine has been pushed back into place.
- Obstructed pump impeller — Fourth, and usually found together with a loaded filter.
- Failed drain pump — Last, and identified by silence at the drain step rather than straining.
Check in this order, and why
- Follow the drain hose from the machine to the outlet — First. Look for a rise above drum level before the fall - without it the machine siphons.
- Listen at the drain step for straining or silence — Second, because the two point at completely different repairs.
- Open the lower access panel and clean the pump filter — Third, with a shallow tray and towels ready.
- Check the hose for kinks behind the cabinet — Fourth, and the usual reason a machine drains slowly rather than not at all.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the machine before opening the pump filter, and have towels ready: the drum may still be full and the water can be hot. Close both taps before disturbing a hose. Never tip the machine to empty it, because water reaches the electrics before it reaches the floor.

When to call a technician
Call when the hose is correctly looped and clear, the filter is clean and the pump is still silent at the drain step. Call also if the filter housing will not release - forcing it cracks the housing, and a cracked housing then leaks on every cycle.
