The short answer
A Beko BFL washer that will not drain is almost always blocked rather than broken, and the blockage is usually in the pump filter behind the lower access panel. The three codes in this family share that arrangement, and clearing it is an owner job that needs a shallow tray, a towel and no tools beyond a coin.
What you observe
- The drum is full of water and the cycle has stopped — The machine has given up trying to drain and is waiting.
- The pump can be heard running but the level does not drop — A blockage rather than a failed pump - usually the filter.
- Nothing at all is heard when the drain step begins — A dead pump, a blown thermal cut-out in it, or a control fault.
- Water drains very slowly and the spin is poor — A partial restriction: a half-blocked filter or a partly kinked hose.
- NEAR MISS - water on the floor rather than in the drum — A leak; the water-leak page covers it.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Blocked pump filter — First by a wide margin, because it is designed to catch debris and is rarely cleaned.
- Kinked or trapped drain hose — Second, and very common after a machine has been pushed back into place.
- Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe — Third. It siphons, which empties the machine early and confuses the cycle rather than stopping it outright.
- Obstructed pump impeller — Fourth, and usually found at the same time as the filter, because the debris reaches both.
- Failed drain pump — Last, and identified by silence rather than by straining.
Check in this order, and why
- Listen at the drain step — First, because straining and silence point at completely different causes.
- Open the lower access panel and clean the pump filter — Second. Have a shallow tray ready - there is more water behind it than owners expect.
- Pull the machine out and follow the drain hose — Third. Look for a kink, a trapped loop, or a hose pushed too far down the standpipe.
- Turn the pump impeller by hand once the filter is out — Fourth. It should turn freely; anything caught in it is visible at that point.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the machine before opening the pump filter, and have towels ready: the drum may still be full and the water can be hot. Close the water taps before disturbing any hose. Never tip the machine to empty it, because water reaches the electrics before it reaches the floor.

When to call a technician
Call when the filter and hose are clear and the pump is still silent at the drain step, because that is a pump or a control fault. Call also if the filter will not come out - a seized filter housing is easily cracked by force, and a cracked housing leaks continuously.
