The short answer
A Beko BFLB washer that will not drain has two ordinary explanations, and on a large-capacity front-loader they are worth separating before you open anything: a pump filter that has filled with debris, or a drum full of foam that the pump cannot move. The second sounds like a failure and is a detergent problem.
What you observe
- Foam in the window with the level barely dropping — The pump is churning foam rather than water. Not a failure.
- The pump strains and the level does not drop — A blockage, and usually the filter.
- Nothing is heard at all when the drain step begins — A dead pump, a tripped thermal cut-out in it, or a control fault.
- Water drains slowly and the spin is poor — A partial restriction: a half-blocked filter or a partly kinked hose.
- NEAR MISS - water on the floor rather than in the drum — A leak; the water-leak page covers it.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Excess foam from over-dosing — First on a large-capacity front-loader, and the cause most often mistaken for a failed pump.
- Blocked pump filter — Second, and the leading mechanical cause because the filter is built to catch debris and rarely opened.
- Kinked or trapped drain hose — Third, and very common after a machine has been pushed back into place.
- Obstructed pump impeller — Fourth, and usually found together with the filter.
- Failed drain pump — Last, and identified by silence rather than straining.
Check in this order, and why
- Look at the window for foam before anything else — First, because a foam problem and a blockage produce the same complaint with different fixes.
- Run a rinse and spin with no detergent — Second, if foam is present. It clears the drum and tells you whether the pump works.
- Open the lower access panel and clean the pump filter — Third, with a shallow tray ready - a full large drum holds a lot of water.
- Follow the drain hose for kinks and standpipe depth — Fourth, and the step that explains a machine that drains slowly rather than not at all.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the machine before opening the pump filter, and have towels ready: the drum may still be full and the water can be hot. Close the taps before disturbing a hose. Never tip the machine to empty it, because water reaches the electrics before it reaches the floor.

When to call a technician
Call when foam is ruled out, the filter and hose are clear and the pump is still silent at the drain step. Call also if the filter housing will not release - forcing it cracks the housing, and a cracked housing leaks on every cycle afterwards.
