Not Cooling or Not Freezing: the short answer
A freezer that runs but will not hold temperature is losing heat-rejection capacity or has iced its own airflow shut. On a compact or chest cabinet the load pattern — how full it is, how often the lid opens, where it stands — matters more than it does on any other appliance.

Unplug the freezer before removing any panel. Refrigerant lines are sealed and pressurised and are not owner-serviceable — never pierce, cut or heat one. Never chip ice off an evaporator with a screwdriver or a knife: the tubing is thin-walled and puncturing it ends the appliance.
