Abnormal Noise or Vibration: the short answer
A freezer sits in a garage, a basement or a utility room far more often than a kitchen, and that is exactly why its noise complaints are usually about the floor and the surroundings rather than about the sealed system.

Unplug the freezer before removing any panel. Refrigerant lines are sealed and pressurised and are not owner-serviceable — never pierce, cut or heat one. Never chip ice off an evaporator with a screwdriver or a knife: the tubing is thin-walled and puncturing it ends the appliance. A full chest cabinet is extremely heavy, so empty it before moving it and never let a lid fall onto a hand or head.
