Water Leak: the short answer
Water from a freezer is melted frost that found the wrong way out. On a manual-defrost cabinet it is usually the drain plug or the defrost routine; on an auto-defrost cabinet it is the drain path, and in both cases the cabinet being level decides where the water goes.

Unplug the freezer before removing any panel. Refrigerant lines are sealed and pressurised and are not owner-serviceable — never pierce, cut or heat one. Never chip ice off an evaporator with a screwdriver or a knife: the tubing is thin-walled and puncturing it ends the appliance. A full chest cabinet is extremely heavy, so empty it before moving it and never let a lid fall onto a hand or head.
