Asko Dishwasher: Water Leak
A leaking dishwasher is more consequential than most appliance leaks because the machine sits under a worktop against cabinetry and flooring, so water goes unseen for a long time. The common sources are the door seal, the detergent dispenser area, the fill and drain connections behind the machine, and overfilling caused by a fault in the level sensing. Asko is a Scandinavian premium brand: heavier build, stainless interiors, machines designed for long life and quiet running. Checking the seal, the levelling and the visible connections is owner work. Anything requiring the machine to be pulled out under a worktop is not.
What the owner actually observes
- Water runs out from under the door at the front.
- Water appears at the plinth or under the adjacent cabinet.
- The floor is damp only after a cycle rather than continuously.
- The cabinet side or the flooring beside the machine has swollen or discoloured.
- Water is visible at the back when the machine is pulled forward.

- That the machine is level in both directions and that the door closes evenly against the tub all the way round — Order: second — Because: it is free and it explains a machine that has slowly begun to leak without anything having broken
- Behind and beneath the machine with a torch and dry paper towel, from the plinth if the machine cannot be moved — Order: third — Because: a pressurised leak worsens, and behind a built-in machine it does damage long before it is visible
Owner-safe checks
- Look at what the machine has been consuming rather than what it is made of. Check filters, seals and screens for the residue of hard water and detergent, and check that the maintenance the machine expects has actually been done — on a heavily built machine, that is where the fault usually is. — Step: first — Tools: a torch and a phone camera — Time estimate: a few minutes

When to call a technician
The line is any leak behind or beneath a built-in machine. Call if water is appearing at the plinth rather than at the door, which points at the sump or a connection. Call if the door seal is hardened or torn, since replacing one means fitting a new seal into its channel evenly. Call if flooring or cabinetry beside the machine has swollen, since the leak has been running for some time. Call if the machine overfills on some cycles, which points at level sensing or a valve.
