Check 1 — is it actually getting power?#
Look at the panel first. Most LG dishwashers sit on a dedicated 15A or 20A circuit; reset it if it has tripped. Machines built after 2020 usually plug in rather than being hardwired, so test the outlet under the sink with a lamp or a phone charger. Older units may be hardwired.
If the breaker trips again the moment you reset it, stop. That is a short circuit, and repeatedly resetting into a short is how a fault becomes a fire.

Check 2 — the door latch#
The latch is mechanical with an electrical switch built in, and until that switch closes the board never sees a sealed door. The machine then looks completely dead, or lights up but refuses to run.
Close the door firmly and listen. No click, or a click that feels slack, and the mechanism is worn. Inspect the strike hook on the door for cracks, bending or debris keeping it from full engagement.
To test it properly, kill the breaker, take the inner door panel screws out, reach the latch assembly and unplug its connector. On continuity, push the latch hook in by hand: closed should beep, open should read OL. A switch that never changes state has failed.
Check 3 — voltage at the board (live)#
Restore power and use the non-contact tester first. To reach the board, close the door halfway, lift it off its hinges, and remove the 8 Torx T15 screws from the inner door panel frame — the main board sits in a metal housing at the top of the inner door.
On AC volts, carefully test the incoming connector: you want 120V AC. Nothing there means the break is upstream, in the thermal fuse, a door switch, or the wiring from the junction box.

Check 4 — the thermal fuse#
This blows when the machine overheats and it sits in the wiring between the junction box and the board, usually as a small inline device on the red or black wire behind the inner door panel, or near the junction box under the tub.
Power off, disconnect one end and check continuity: a beep is good, OL means blown. It is a cheap part, but replacing it without asking why it blew is pointless — a heater element drawing excessive current is the usual answer, so test the element resistance before restoring power.
Check 5 — read the board#
With the panel off and power down, look for burnt or blackened components, capacitors with bulging tops, corroded joints or green residue, scorch marks on the substrate, and melted connector pins. Any of those is a failed board. On a machine over 8 years old, weigh that cost against a replacement dishwasher; under 6 years, repair usually makes sense.
