What this usually means
The first thing to rule out on a EuroDesign dryer is the top cause below — a blocked lint filter or lint housing — and the second is a blocked exterior vent hood or flap. The great majority of no-heat and slow-drying complaints are airflow rather than heat: a dryer that cannot exhaust moist air cannot dry, and it will cut its own heat out to protect itself while doing so.
What the owner actually sees
- The cycle ends early with the load still wet — A moisture sensor reading a load as dry because air is not carrying moisture past it.
- The drum turns and the load stays cold and damp — Either no heat is being made, or heat is being made and cut out almost immediately.
- The condensate tank fills quickly, or the condenser filter has never been removed — A condensing dryer has two filter stages and a water-handling path a vented machine does not have.
- NEAR MISS — the drum does not turn at all — That is a drive or start fault and belongs on the will-not-start page.
Causes, most likely first
- A blocked lint filter or lint housing — Ranked first on a EuroDesign dryer because this platform has more filters than owners expect — and a European dryer or washer will complain about a filter long before it complains about a component. The filter is the first restriction and the one people believe they have already checked.
- A blocked exterior vent hood or flap — Second here: the cabinet, the hinges and the ventilation channel are part of the machine here, and they are the part nobody re-checks after fitting day.
- A blocked, crushed or over-long exhaust duct
Where to start, and why there
- First: Run water over the filter: if it pools rather than passing straight through, the mesh is sealed even though it looks clear. — It sits first because this platform has more filters than owners expect — and a European dryer or washer will complain about a filter long before it complains about a component.
- Second: Go outside during a cycle and feel for air at the hood. — Next, and it needs no tool.
- Third: Disconnect the duct at the machine and run the dryer for a moment — a strong warm blast at the outlet means the machine is fine and the duct is the fault. — Only once the checks above are clean.
Steps you can take yourself
- Remove and rinse the condenser as well as the lint filter — On a condensing machine the condenser is a second filter stage, and it is the part owners most often do not know exists.
Tools: warm water, soft brushAbout 30 min
- Clean the lint filter properly and the housing beneath it — Wash the filter in warm soapy water to remove the film, dry it, and vacuum the slot it sits in.
Tools: warm soapy water, vacuum with a crevice toolAbout 20 min
- Wipe the moisture sensor bars inside the drum — A soft cloth and a little rubbing alcohol; residue on these bars ends cycles early.
Tools: clothAbout 10 min
- STOP before opening the cabinet to test an element, fuse or gas valve — Those tests are made on live terminals, and a gas train is not owner work at all.
Safety first
Safety
If you smell gas: do not switch anything on or off, leave the building, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not look for the leak yourself. Unplug the dryer or switch off its breaker before removing any panel — a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off.
When to call a technician
Call a technician when the airflow path is proven clear end to end and the machine still will not heat — that points at the element, the thermal fuse, the thermostat or, on a gas machine, the burner train. Call a gas technician immediately, and evacuate first, if you smell gas at any point around the machine.

What is deliberately not here
This page is generalized across the EuroDesign dryer range — written for the appliance class, not for one family or model line, and no family- or model-specific page has been published beneath it yet. When one is, it will be the more specific answer and it will be linked here; until then the closest pages are listed below.
