What this usually means
An Elica cabinet that will not run divides on one question: is there any sign of life at all? A dark cabinet points at the outlet, the breaker or the cord. Lights and a display with nothing cooling points at a setting, a relay or a control — and on a unit bought as a floor model, at showroom mode, which disables cooling by design. Because these appliances are boxed into joinery by the kitchen fitter, check the supply and the settings before anything else.
What owners actually observe
- Nothing at all: no light, no fan, no display — Supply first: the outlet, the plug, the breaker or a tripped protection device.

Likely causes in order of odds

- Ambient temperature outside the design range — Next in order: it is also why a unit that worked all summer can appear to fail in winter, which is a clue rather than a coincidence.
- Control set to off, or showroom and demo mode enabled — Third: most builds have a setting that stops cooling while keeping the lights and display alive, and a unit bought as a floor model often arrives with it enabled.
