The short answer
Check the shut-off arm, the valve and the line behind the machine, then the freezer temperature and the filter. If ice is simply running out during entertaining, the machine may be working normally and the bin is the limit rather than the appliance.
What you notice
- The bin empties during a party and refills slowly — Normal production limits.
- No ice at all — Supply, arm or a warm compartment.
- Small or hollow cubes — Low water flow.
- Damp at the fitting behind the machine — A line or connection leaking.
- A frozen block in the mould — The fill tube has frozen.
- Not this fault: cubes fused together after a quiet week — Slow use.

Water and a reachable supply
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Keep the refrigerator at or below forty degrees Fahrenheit and the freezer at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Turn off the supply valve before disturbing any fitting, never thaw a fill tube with a flame or a heat gun, and dry any spilled water before moving the cabinet back.
When to call
Call when the arm is down, the valve is open, the line is sound, the compartment is cold and still no water reaches the mould - the inlet valve and the module are inside. Call a plumber for a leaking valve or a damaged line. If the complaint is simply that ice runs out when guests arrive, a separate ice supply is a better answer than a repair.
