The short answer
Find the isolating valve, then check the shut-off arm, the freezer temperature and the filter. On an integrated machine, a line kinked or crushed behind the housing is the classic cause and it is invisible from the front.
What you notice
- No ice at all — Supply, arm, or a compartment that is too warm.
- Small or hollow cubes — Low water flow, often the filter.
- A frozen block in the mould — The fill tube has frozen.
- Damp in the base of the housing — A line or fitting leaking inside the furniture.
- Ice tasting stale — Old ice absorbing cabinet odours.
- Not this fault: no ice with the freezer warm — Read the cooling page first.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel - on a built-in machine use the isolating switch, because the plug is unreachable. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Keep the refrigerator at or below forty degrees Fahrenheit and the freezer at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Close the water isolating valve before disturbing any fitting, and never thaw a fill tube with a flame or a heat gun.
When to call
Call when water reaches the appliance, the freezer is genuinely cold, the filter is new and no ice is made, because the module and the inlet valve are inside the machine. Call a plumber for a crushed or leaking line inside the cabinetry. Say the appliance is integrated: drawing it out is the bulk of the visit and should be priced in.
