Electrolux/Kenmore Washer oL: Drum Overloaded
What oL Means
oL fires when the motor draws current beyond the safe threshold during agitation or spin. The most common cause is too much laundry in the drum. This is primarily a user-correctable condition.

Immediate Fix
- Press Cancel. Wait for the door/lid to unlock (1-2 minutes).
- Remove approximately one-third of the load.
- Restart the cycle.
When oL Is Not Overloading
If oL appears with a normal-sized load or an empty drum:
Seized bearings. The main drum bearings have failed, creating excessive resistance. Spin the drum by hand: grinding or stiffness confirms bearing failure.
Foreign object between drum and tub. An underwire, coin, or button lodged between the drum and outer tub creates friction.
Motor winding issue. A partially shorted motor draws excess current at normal load.
