Two doors, one seal
An integrated refrigerator has two doors: the appliance door that seals, and the furniture door that hides it. They are coupled together, and almost every door complaint on this platform is the coupling rather than the gasket. Find out which door is misbehaving before you order anything.
What you are seeing
- The furniture door does not sit level with the neighbouring cabinet fronts.
- The appliance door is left slightly open when the furniture door is closed.
- Condensation on the appliance door frame.
- The furniture door catches on an adjacent cabinet as it opens.
- The compartment runs warm in humid weather.
- Not this fault: Water pooling inside the compartment is a drain fault - read the water leak page.
- Not this fault: Frost on the rear wall of a static-cooled compartment is normal.
Most likely causes, in Diplomat order
- Slide or coupling kit adjusted wrong or dragging — Why ranked: First on an integrated unit. The furniture door is bolted to the appliance door through this kit, and any drag in it holds the inner door open.
- Furniture door heavier or wider than the kit was set for — Why ranked: Second: a thick or oversized front applies leverage the hinge was never adjusted for, and it pulls the whole assembly down.
- Appliance gasket hardened or out of its channel — Why ranked: Third. It is a real cause, but on this platform it is usually found after the coupling has been ruled out, not before.
- Cabinet housing not square or the appliance not level in it — Why ranked: Fourth. An out-of-square housing makes both doors sit wrong, and no adjustment on either door will correct it.
- Hinge or closer worn on the appliance door itself — Why ranked: Last, and it shows as an inner door that no longer pulls itself shut even with the furniture door removed from the equation.
What to check, in order
- Open the furniture door and check whether the appliance door behind it is fully closed. — Because: This one look separates a coupling fault from a gasket fault immediately.
- Watch how the furniture door moves through its travel for catching or dragging. — Because: Drag anywhere in the travel is transmitted straight to the appliance door.
- Close the appliance door alone on a paper strip at several points. — Because: Testing the inner door on its own removes the furniture door from the question entirely.
- Check the housing is square and the appliance is level within it. — Because: A twisted housing defeats every adjustment on both doors.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. A furniture door adds real weight to a refrigerator door - never work under a coupled door alone, and support it if you loosen any fixing. Never draw an integrated appliance out of its housing alone. Do not wedge or tape a door to close a gap. Keep fingers clear of the coupling when testing door travel.
When this becomes a service call
The appliance door will not close fully with the coupling released. The furniture door has dropped and fouls the cabinet beside it. The gasket is torn or will not stay in its channel. The housing is visibly out of square.
