The short answer
A dead cabinet on a Classic platform is most often an outlet, a tripped breaker, or a start component. The first three checks need no tools and settle whether this is an appliance fault at all. - Read the rating plate and photograph it — It identifies the platform, which is what a parts supplier needs, and it takes a moment while the door is open anyway.

- Reset the breaker once, and once only — If it holds, watch it. If it trips again, stop: repeated resetting of a faulted circuit is a hazard in its own right.

A capacitor keeps a charge after the power is off, so treat the compressor terminals as energised until you have proved otherwise. Nothing in the sealed circuit is an homeowner job: it is pressurised, and the law treats venting it as a violation in its own right.
Where the owner job ends
Call the same day rather than waiting, because a cabinet that is not running is a food-safety clock as much as an appliance fault. Proving supply and cleaning a coil are homeowner work; anything behind the rear service panel is not. Bring the technician your notes rather than your theory; what you observed is worth more than what you concluded.
