What this usually means
Follow the water. A dry mould means nothing arrived; a partly filled mould means the flow is restricted; a full mould that never releases means the harvest is failing. On a machine of this build the mechanical parts usually outlast the electronics, so read a refusal as a supervisor decision rather than as a broken component. The order matters more than the list, because the list is the same on every cabinet and the order is not.
The observable signs
- Small or hollow cubes — A partial fill, which means restricted flow rather than a failed part.
- A solid block in the bucket — Melt and refreeze, which points at cabinet temperature or a lid left open.
- Ice that forms but never ejects — A harvest fault at the module or a compartment running colder than the mould heater can overcome.
- NEAR MISS: the whole cabinet is not properly frozen — The ice maker is then a symptom of the cooling fault and not the fault itself.
Most likely first
- Supply tap closed, line kinked or frozen — The one to suspect first. It leads on a cabinet of this class because the ice maker is plumbed into a standalone appliance that is moved for cleaning and access more often than a built-in one. The leading cause in standalone cabinets, where the water line is usually a retrofit running to an appliance that gets moved.
- Ice maker switched off or feeler arm held up — The second suspect. A stored package against the arm stops production completely and looks exactly like a failure.
- Compartment temperature wrong for a harvest — Third, and less common. Too warm and the cycle never completes; much too cold and the mould heater cannot release the ice.
- Filter restricted or badly seated — Fourth, and less common again. Reduced flow shows up in cube size before it shows up in cube count.
- Body: Ranked for a Brigade freezer specifically. The order is the value here; the list on its own would be the same list anyone could write.
What to check first, and why that first
- Check the supply tap and the line behind the cabinet — A closed tap after other work in the room is a very common answer.
- Check the feeler arm and the on switch — Both are free to correct and both stop production entirely.
- Check the compartment is holding a proper freezing temperature — An ice maker is the first thing to fail when a cabinet drifts.
- Body: The order below follows the water from the tap to the mould and only then looks at the mechanism.
What an owner can safely check
- Open the supply tap and inspect the whole line for kinks — Pull the cabinet far enough forward to see the line without stretching it.

- Empty and wash the bucket — Fused ice jams the ejector and stops the cycle at the last step.
- Replace an overdue filter and purge the line — Run water through until it is clear and free of air.
- STOP before removing the module or a fill tube heater — Those are powered assemblies behind panels.
Read this before you start
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel; a capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Close the water supply before disturbing any fitting, and never thaw a frozen fill tube with a flame or a heat gun.
The point at which to call someone
Call when water reaches the cabinet and the mould stays dry, when a hand fill harvests correctly and the automatic cycle does not, or when the compartment cannot hold a freezing temperature. Call sooner if there is any water on the floor. Move perishable food somewhere cold first, then deal with the appliance.
