The short answer
A Beko BWDB drains far more often than a plain washer does, because the drying phase pumps condensate away as well. That extra duty is why the pump filter on a combi fills faster than on a wash-only machine, and why poor drying is frequently the first sign of a drain problem rather than the last.
What you observe
- A full drum with the pump straining — A blockage, and the filter is the first place to look.
- The wash drains fine but drying is poor — A partly restricted drain the dry phase cannot cope with.
- Nothing is heard at the drain step — A dead pump, a thermal cut-out inside it, or a control fault.
- The filter is packed with lint and fibre — Normal for a combi, and the reason it needs cleaning more often.

Causes, most likely first on this family
- Pump filter packed with lint — First, and more so here than on any wash-only machine, because drying sends lint the same way.
- Kinked or trapped drain hose — Second, and very common after the machine has been pushed back into place.
- Drain hose too deep in the standpipe — Third. It siphons, so the machine keeps refilling and the cycle never satisfies.
- Obstructed pump impeller — Fourth, and usually found alongside a loaded filter.
- Failed drain pump — Last, and identified by silence rather than straining.
Check in this order, and why
- Open the lower access panel and clean the pump filter — First. On a combi it is the leading cause for both drainage and drying complaints.
- Note whether the pump strains or is silent — Second, because straining is a blockage and silence is a pump or control fault.
- Follow the drain hose for kinks and check its depth in the standpipe — Third, and both are free to correct.
- Run a drain and spin with the drum empty — Fourth. It confirms whether the route is clear once the filter is done.
Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the machine before opening the pump filter, and have towels ready: the drum may still be full and the water can be hot. Close both taps before disturbing a hose. Let the machine cool after a dry cycle before reaching inside, and never tip it to empty it - water reaches the electrics before it reaches the floor.

When to call a technician
Call when the filter is clean, the hose is clear and straight and the pump is still silent at the drain step. Call also if the filter housing will not release: forcing it cracks the housing, and a cracked housing then leaks on every cycle.
