The short answer
Water inside or under a Beko BAF refrigerator is defrost meltwater that missed its drain. No code in this family carries a water connection, so there is nothing plumbed to burst - which narrows the whole investigation to the short route from the trough at the base of the rear wall down to the evaporation tray above the compressor.
What you observe
- Water pooling under the crisper drawer — The drain hole at the base of the rear wall is blocked and the trough is backing up into the cabinet.
- Water on the floor at the front — The same overflow, escaping under the door once the cabinet floor is full.
- Water on the floor behind the cabinet — The drain tube off its spigot, or the evaporation tray out of position.
- Ice building in the trough at the base of the rear wall — The drain hole has frozen rather than clogged, which is the winter version of the same fault.
- NEAR MISS - water inside and the cabinet is also warm — A cabinet that has stopped cooling is simply thawing, so the cooling page comes first.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Blocked or frozen defrost drain hole — First, and by a wide margin. Food debris, a label or a seed washed into the trough is enough to stop it.
- Door gasket admitting humid air — Second, and the reason there is more meltwater than the route was designed to carry.
- Drain tube off its spigot behind the cabinet — Third, and usually traceable to the appliance having been moved or cleaned behind.
- Evaporation tray crooked or cracked — Fourth, and visible from behind without removing anything on a freestanding cabinet.
- Defrost system working intermittently — Last. It makes more ice than the drain can clear without ever presenting as a leak.
Check in this order, and why
- Establish where the water is: inside, in front, or behind — First, because it removes two thirds of the list at no cost.
- Empty the crisper and look into the trough at the base of the rear wall — Second. Standing water or ice there is the drain hole, which is the leading cause.
- Clear the hole with warm water poured slowly — Third. Repeat rather than force it; the tubing directly behind the liner punctures easily.
- Pull the cabinet out and look at the tube and tray — Fourth, and the step that explains water appearing behind rather than inside.
Before you open anything

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Mop before you work: water on a hard floor beside a live appliance is a shock risk. Never clear a drain hole with a metal probe or a straightened coat hanger, because the evaporator tubing runs immediately behind the liner at that point.

When to call a technician
Call when the drain clears and blocks again within weeks, because a drain that will not stay clear usually means the defrost cycle is dumping more water than it should. Call also if the tray is cracked or the tube has perished, since both mean dismantling the compressor shelf.
