The short answer
Water at a Beko BUFR column running as a refrigerator comes from one of two places, and the model code decides whether the second is even possible. The defrost drain route accounts for most of it; on the code ending in IM there is also a supply line at the back of the cabinet. On a column in a kitchen niche, the direction the water runs is the fastest way to tell them apart.
What you observe
- Water appearing under the door at the front — Meltwater that could not reach the drain and ran forward across the cabinet floor.
- Standing water or ice in the trough at the base of the rear wall — The drain hole is blocked or frozen.
- Water seeping from under the plinth — The tube or the tray inside the housing, which is not owner-accessible on a column.
- A damp or swollen plinth or floor panel — A slow leak that has been running inside the housing for some time.
- NEAR MISS - water inside and the cabinet also warm — A cabinet that has stopped cooling is thawing; the cooling page comes first.
Causes, most likely first on this family
- Blocked or frozen drain hole — First, and the only cause here an owner can reach without removing the appliance from its opening.
- Door gasket admitting humid air — Second, and the reason there is more meltwater than the route was built to carry.
- Drain tube or evaporation tray displaced — Third, and enclosed by the housing on an installed column.
- Ice-maker supply connection weeping — Fourth, and only on the code ending in IM.
- Defrost system working intermittently — Last, and the reason a cleared drain fills again.
Check in this order, and why
- Decide whether the water is at the front or under the plinth — First, because front is reachable and under the plinth is not.
- Look into the trough at the base of the rear wall — Second. Standing water or ice names the drain hole immediately.
- Clear the hole with warm water poured slowly — Third, with the cabinet unplugged, repeating rather than probing.
- On the IM code, shut the supply off and watch for a change — Fourth, and the quickest way to rule a supply fitting in or out.

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Shut off the water supply before touching any ice-maker connection. Water inside a kitchen housing reaches cables and chipboard before it reaches the floor, so isolate first. Never clear a drain hole with a metal probe.

When to call a technician
Call as soon as water is appearing under the plinth rather than at the front, because the tube and tray are inside the housing. Call also if a cleared drain blocks again within weeks, or if a supply fitting weeps where you cannot isolate it.
