The short answer
Water on the floor around the DUT line has three sources and the location of the puddle separates them: at the door front it is the gasket or the detergent path, under the centre it is the sump or a hose clip, at the back it is the fill or drain connection. The platform puts the fill valve behind a removable kick panel, so the two commonest checks need one panel off.
What you observe
- The gasket is shiny and hard at the bottom corners — Within this line, heat and grease harden the seal fastest where water sits, so the corners fail before the top edge does.
- The machine has been moved or re-levelled recently — A cabinet leaning forward drains its base tray onto the floor instead of back toward the sump.
- The leak stopped when a different detergent was used — Conclusive evidence for a foaming cause, and it costs one cycle to establish. Every model in this family behaves this way.
- NEAR MISS: water stands inside the tub but the floor is dry — That is a drainage fault, covered on the drainage page for this family, and nothing on this page applies to it.
Causes, most likely first
- A dirty, hardened or displaced door gasket — Ranked first on the DUT line because the gasket is a single moulded strip held in a channel: grease hardens it, a knock lifts a corner, and either one breaks the seal along the whole edge rather than at a point. That is true of every model this family spans.
- Over-foaming from the wrong detergent — On the models listed in the table on this page, hand dish soap or too much rinse aid raises foam above the door line and it escapes at the weakest point. It reads as a hardware fault and is entirely consumable-related.
- An overloaded or badly loaded lower rack — A tall item deflecting the upper spray arm can throw water directly at the door edge, which defeats a gasket that is in perfect condition.
- A rinse-aid reservoir overfilled or leaking — Excess rinse aid enters the wash and raises foam, which escapes at the door line and produces a convincing gasket leak with a perfect gasket.
- A split or corroded tub seam or sump housing — Last because it is rare and because it is the one cause that ends the machine rather than starting a repair. Everything above it must be excluded first, since each imitates it perfectly once the base tray has carried the water forward.
Check in this order, and why
- Establish where the water lands before anything else — Dry the floor, lay paper at the front foot, at each side and behind, and run a short programme. This single step splits the fault tree in three. It does not vary across the models listed on this page.
- Run a finger along the whole gasket — Second, because it is free and because on the DUT line a hardened or lifted section is felt long before it is seen. Clean it with hot water and check it seats in its channel all round.
- Review the detergent and the rinse-aid setting — Third, because over-foaming produces a convincing door leak with nothing wrong. Run one cycle with the correct product and a normal dose before suspecting hardware. The same is true of each model covered here.

Isolate the machine at the breaker before any panel comes off, and turn the water supply off at the tap before touching the fill connection. Mop the floor first: standing water under an appliance makes a slip more likely than the leak itself.

When to call a technician
