The short version
Water on the floor around the BDF line has three sources and the location of the puddle separates them: at the door front it is the gasket or the detergent path, under the centre it is the sump or a hose clip, at the back it is the fill or drain connection. The platform puts the fill valve behind a removable kick panel, so the two commonest checks need one panel off.
What you will notice
- Water behind the machine but a dry floor in front — For the models in the table on this page, points at the fill or drain connection rather than the tub, since the base tray would have carried a tub leak forward.
- Detergent residue streaking the inside of the door — A dispenser flap or its seal is releasing early, and the resulting overflow path wets the door edge rather than the tub.
- The floor is wet but the machine has not run — A standing leak with the machine idle means the fill side, since nothing else holds pressure between cycles. That holds across every model this page covers.
- A slow drip from the door corner hours after a cycle — Water trapped in the gasket channel finds its way out slowly, which looks like a serious leak and is usually a cleaning job.

What is usually behind it
- A dirty, hardened or displaced door gasket — Ranked first on the BDF line because the gasket is a single moulded strip held in a channel: grease hardens it, a knock lifts a corner, and either one breaks the seal along the whole edge rather than at a point. It does not vary across the models listed on this page.
- Over-foaming from the wrong detergent — Across the models this page covers, hand dish soap or too much rinse aid raises foam above the door line and it escapes at the weakest point. It reads as a hardware fault and is entirely consumable-related.
- A rinse-aid reservoir overfilled or leaking — Excess rinse aid enters the wash and raises foam, which escapes at the door line and produces a convincing gasket leak with a perfect gasket.
- A cabinet that is no longer level — A machine tipped forward sends base-tray water to the floor rather than back to the sump, which turns a trivial internal escape into a visible leak.
- A perished sump gasket under the tub — Last because it needs the machine out of its housing to see and because every cheaper cause above it produces an identical puddle at the front foot.
How to narrow it down
- Establish where the water lands before anything else — Dry the floor, lay paper at the front foot, at each side and behind, and run a short programme. This single step splits the fault tree in three. The same is true of each model covered here.
- Run a finger along the whole gasket — Second, because it is free and because on the BDF line a hardened or lifted section is felt long before it is seen. Clean it with hot water and check it seats in its channel all round.
- Review the detergent and the rinse-aid setting — Third, because over-foaming produces a convincing door leak with nothing wrong. Run one cycle with the correct product and a normal dose before suspecting hardware. Every model in this family behaves this way.

Isolate the machine at the breaker before any panel comes off, and turn the water supply off at the tap before touching the fill connection. Mop the floor first: standing water under an appliance makes a slip more likely than the leak itself.

The line on these models is the kick panel: the gasket, the loading and the fill connection are all owner-checkable, and anything requiring the machine to come out belongs to service.
