Asko Dryer: Door, Latch or Seal Fault
A dryer door does two jobs — it closes an interlock so the machine will run, and it seals the drum so air goes through the load rather than around it. Asko is a Scandinavian premium brand: heavier build, stainless interiors, machines designed for long life and quiet running. Adjusting a strike, cleaning a seal and checking a hinge are owner work. Replacing a drum seal means dismantling the machine.
What the owner actually observes
- The door does not stay shut, or springs open partway through a cycle.
- The machine will not start unless the door is pressed firmly closed and held.
- Warm air can be felt escaping around the door while the machine runs.
- The felt or rubber seal around the drum opening is flattened, torn or missing in places.
- The door sags visibly, or catches on the cabinet as it closes.

- That the machine is level and all four feet bear, then close the door and watch where it meets the catch — Order: second — Because: it is free, and a door that has always been fine and is now not is often a machine that has been moved
- The felt or rubber ring around the drum opening for flattened, missing or displaced sections — Order: third — Because: it separates a starting complaint from a drying complaint, which are two different repairs
Owner-safe checks
- Look at what the machine has been consuming rather than what it is made of. - Clear every filter and screen the machine has, and check whether the water it runs in is hard: scale and detergent residue collect on the surfaces that matter most and produce symptoms that mimic component failure. When to call a technician
The line is anything requiring the cabinet or the drum to come apart. Call if the drum seal is worn, since replacing one means removing the drum. Call if the machine only runs with the door held, which means the interlock is not being made reliably. Call if the door has dropped and a hinge is worn rather than merely loose. Call if the door is warm to the touch or air is escaping strongly, which suggests the seal has failed rather than just aged.
