Asko Dryer: Does Not Clean or Dry
A dryer that heats but leaves clothes damp is nearly always moving too little air or being asked to dry too much at once. Drying is evaporation followed by removal, so a machine can be producing perfect heat and still fail if the moisture has nowhere to go — which is why cycle times climb steadily over years as the lint path silts up. Asko is a Scandinavian premium brand: heavier build, stainless interiors, machines designed for long life and quiet running. Load size, filters, vent and condenser are all owner work and they fix most of these. Moisture sensors and control calibration are not.
What the owner actually observes
- The load comes out hot but still damp, especially at the seams and waistbands.
- An automatic cycle ends early and reports itself finished while the load is clearly wet.
- Cycle times have grown gradually over months rather than changing suddenly.
- One large item, such as a duvet or a bath sheet, comes out with a wet core and dry edges.
- On a condenser machine, the tank fills very little and the machine feels hot to the touch.

- Whether the drum is more than about half full, and whether heavy and light items are being dried together — Order: first — Because: it is free, immediate, and it is the most common single explanation for damp loads on a healthy machine
- The filter, the housing beneath it and the condenser or vent for matted lint — Order: second — Because: it is the cause that best explains a gradual decline, and it is free to correct
- The duct run and the outdoor flap on a vented machine, or the room ventilation on a condenser machine — Order: third — Because: these limits are invisible from the front of the machine and they cap performance no matter what is replaced
- The sensor strips inside the drum for a dull film, and clean them with a little vinegar on a cloth — Order: fourth — Because: it explains the specific complaint of an automatic cycle finishing early on a wet load
Owner-safe checks
- Look at what the machine has been consuming rather than what it is made of. Check filters, seals and screens for the residue of hard water and detergent, and check that the maintenance the machine expects has actually been done — on a heavily built machine, that is where the fault usually is. — Step: first — Tools: a torch and a phone camera — Time estimate: a few minutes

- Clear every filter and screen the machine has, and check whether the water it runs in is hard: scale and detergent residue collect on the surfaces that matter most and produce symptoms that mimic component failure. When to call a technician
The line is anything inside the cabinet. Call if a small test load on a timed cycle still comes out damp after the whole lint path has been cleared. Call if the machine is very hot on the outside, which suggests heat is not leaving with the air. Call if the drum seal is visibly perished, since replacing one means opening the machine. Call if the automatic cycle still ends early after the sensor bars have been cleaned.
