Asko Dryer: Cycle Will Not Run or Complete
A dryer that starts and then stops, or that runs endlessly without finishing, is usually being governed by something it senses rather than by something that has broken. Asko is a Scandinavian premium brand: heavier build, stainless interiors, machines designed for long life and quiet running. Cycle selection, sensor cleaning and clearing the lint path are owner work. Timer, control and motor faults are not.
What the owner actually observes
- An automatic cycle finishes within minutes and reports the load dry when it is wet.
- The cycle runs far past its estimate and never reaches the end.
- The machine stops partway and shows nothing on the display.
- The cycle restarts itself or jumps back to an earlier stage.
- A timed cycle completes normally but automatic cycles do not.

- Whether a timed cycle runs normally while automatic cycles end early — Order: second — Because: if timed cycles are fine, the machine heats, tumbles and vents correctly and only its sensing is wrong, which narrows the fault to one cheap cause
Owner-safe checks
- Look at what the machine has been consuming rather than what it is made of. Check filters, seals and screens for the residue of hard water and detergent, and check that the maintenance the machine expects has actually been done — on a heavily built machine, that is where the fault usually is. — Step: first — Tools: a torch and a phone camera — Time estimate: a few minutes

- Clear the lint filter, the housing beneath it, and the vent or condenser. - Clear every filter and screen the machine has, and check whether the water it runs in is hard: scale and detergent residue collect on the surfaces that matter most and produce symptoms that mimic component failure. When to call a technician
The line is any test inside the console or the cabinet. Call if automatic cycles still end early after the sensor bars have been cleaned. Call if a cycle never completes even after the whole lint path is clear. Call if the machine stops at a different point each time with no code, which suggests an intermittent interlock or connection. Call if a timed cycle also fails, since that rules out the sensing explanation.
