ARTT Washer: Water Leak
Washer leaks come from a short list — the door seal, the detergent drawer, the fill hoses at the back, the drain hose and the pump filter — and the point in the cycle at which the water appears tells you which. The ARTT badge appears across several appliance categories, the signature of an importer badge applied to units from more than one source. Hoses, the drawer, the seal and the filter cap are owner work. A leaking tub or bearing seal is not.
What the owner actually observes
- Water appears at the front of the machine below the door during the wash.
- Water appears only while the machine is filling.
- Water appears only during the drain or spin.
- The detergent drawer overflows, or water runs down the front of the machine from the drawer.
- The floor is wet at the back of the machine near the hose connections.

Check in this order
- The drawer and its housing for a build-up of detergent and softener, removing the drawer and rinsing both — Order: first — Because: it is free, very common, and it explains a leak that appears at the front while filling
- The door seal by folding it back all the way round and looking into the fold with a torch — Order: second — Because: it is free, it is where most front-loader leaks are, and the damage is visible once the fold is opened
- Both hose connections at the tap and at the machine, wrapped with dry paper towel — Order: third — Because: a pressurised leak gets worse, so it is worth ruling in or out before anything else
Owner-safe checks
- Establish what this specific unit is. Read the data plate for the model, the serial and — importantly — the manufacturer or importer line, then work only from what that plate says. - Stop condition: Stop before opening the cabinet to reach the tub, the bearing housing or internal hoses; those need the machine dismantled and the drum supported.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Fill hoses stay under mains pressure whenever the taps are open, and water reaches the mains components in the base of the machine. When to call a technician
The line is any leak that is not at a seal, a drawer, a hose or the filter cap. Call if water appears from the centre of the machine rather than from a visible connection, which suggests the tub or bearing seal. Call if the door seal is torn, since replacing one means removing the retaining band and the door assembly on most machines. Call if the leak continues after the drawer, seal, hoses and filter cap have all been checked. Call if you can see rust streaking below the drum, which points at a long-standing internal leak.
