ARTT Freezer: Water Leak
Water from a freezer is nearly always melt water that has not gone where it should. On a frost-free model the defrost cycle produces water on a schedule and routes it to a tray beneath the cabinet, so a blocked drain sends it into the base of the freezer instead, where it freezes into layers. The ARTT badge appears across several appliance categories, the signature of an importer badge applied to units from more than one source. Clearing a drain and checking a supply connection are owner work. Anything behind the rear panel is not.
What the owner actually observes
- A layer of ice builds in the base of the cabinet, under the bottom basket.
- Water appears on the floor at the front of the appliance.
- Water pools behind the machine near a supply connection.
- The drip tray beneath the cabinet is dry when it should not be.
- Water runs out when the door is opened after the machine has been running.

- The supply connection and the visible run of line with dry paper towel — Order: second — Because: a pressurised leak worsens over time, so it is worth ruling out before anything is dismantled
- The seal with a strip of paper at several points, and look for frost around the door opening — Order: third — Because: frost at the opening rather than inside is diagnostic of a seal rather than a drain
Owner-safe checks
- Establish what this specific unit is. Read the data plate for the model, the serial and — importantly — the manufacturer or importer line, then work only from what that plate says. - Stop condition: Stop before removing the rear interior panel to reach a frozen drain from behind; that is behind the evaporator and belongs to a technician.

Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Water on a floor next to a mains appliance is a shock and a slip hazard, and a supply line stays pressurised until its valve is closed. When to call a technician
The line is any leak you cannot reach or see the start of. Call if the drain blocks again soon after being flushed, which usually means ice in the line behind the rear panel. Call if the leak is at a pressurised supply fitting and closing the valve does not stop it. Call if the seal is torn rather than merely dirty. Call if you find an oily residue rather than water, which indicates the sealed system.
