Ariston Washer: Door, Latch or Seal Fault
The door on a front-loading washer does three jobs — it seals against a drum full of water, it latches, and it locks under the control's command — and each fails differently. A torn seal leaks, a worn latch stops the machine starting, and a failed lock leaves the door shut after the cycle. Ariston is an European mainstream brand on shared group platforms: conventional layouts, compact European dimensions, well covered by documentation. Cleaning and inspecting the seal, and checking the latch alignment, are owner work. Replacing a seal or a lock is not.
What the owner actually observes
- Water appears at the front of the machine during the wash.
- The door will not stay shut, or has to be slammed to catch.
- The door stays locked after the cycle has finished.
- The seal is torn, perforated, or has dark speckling in its fold.
- The door glass rubs the frame, or the door has visibly dropped.

- Read what the machine is telling you. The line is any repair to the seal, the lock or the hinge. Call if the seal is torn or perforated, since replacing one means removing the retaining band. Call if the door stays locked with an empty drum after the machine has been powered off. Call if the door has dropped because a hinge is worn rather than loose. Call if the machine only starts when the door is slammed, which means the latch or lock is marginal.
