GE Refrigerator CC: Condenser Temperature Sensor Reading Out of Range
CC on GE refrigerators means the condenser coil temperature sensor is reporting values the board cannot use. This sensor sits on the condenser coil (bottom-rear or behind the base grille) and monitors heat rejection efficiency.
What the Condenser Sensor Does
Modern GE Profile and Cafe models use the condenser sensor for compressor efficiency calculations, variable-speed condenser fan control, and CleanGuard condenser-cleaning alerts. Without valid sensor data, these optimization features are disabled.

Impact of CC
CC is NOT critical. The refrigerator continues cooling normally. The condenser fan runs at a fixed speed instead of variable, and the compressor may run slightly longer cycles. There is no food safety concern.
Sensor Access and Testing
- Unplug the refrigerator
- Remove the rear access panel or front base grille to expose the condenser coil
- Find the sensor — a thermistor bead clipped or taped to the condenser tubing
- Disconnect the 2-pin connector
- Measure resistance: 5-8k ohms at room temperature (NTC). OL = open. Below 500 = shorted

Safety First — Know the Risks
Refrigerant (R-134a/R-600a) requires EPA certification to handle. Improper discharge is a federal violation and health hazard. Our techs are licensed and insured — let them handle the risk.

Clean the Condenser While You Are There
Since you have the condenser exposed, clean it. Dust and pet hair reduce cooling efficiency by 15-30%. Use a condenser brush (long, narrow) and vacuum. Clean front-to-back.
