The short answer
Treat an Encore washer with an electrical symptom as isolated until somebody competent has seen it. Because age and the rating plate decide what you are working on here, the supply end of the installation deserves the first look: laundry outlets are crowded, often behind the machine, and frequently shared with a dryer. - NEAR MISS: the breaker trips only when the washer and dryer start together — That is an overloaded circuit rather than a faulty machine, and it is an electrician question.
