- Damp or a loose connector behind the console — Third in order: humidity in a laundry gets behind a membrane and gives keys that work when cold and misbehave when warm.

- Power down fully for a few minutes, then run a short cycle — A code that returns in that cycle is live; one that does not was latched.
- Look for a lock symbol and long-press the lock key — Buttons that return prove nothing was broken.
- Note whether the fault is worse when the machine is warm — Faults that clear overnight are moisture rather than electronics.

The boundary is whether the code names something reachable. Airflow, filters and door conditions, yes. Thermistors, sensors, membranes and controls, no.
