What this usually means
An Elisii machine that is not holding temperature is usually insulated by its own frost or starved of airflow over its condenser, not out of refrigerant. A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below. Because this badge sells online with no dealer network behind it, the frost layer, the lid or door seal and the coils behind the cabinet come first, in that order.
What the machine is telling you
- The cabinet sides or the back are very warm — Heat is not leaving: clearance or a dust-packed condenser.
- Only the top of a chest cabinet is soft — Cold air sits low in a chest freezer, so the top layer is the first to suffer.
- It recovers for a day or two after a defrost, then slides back — On a frost-free build that is the defrost circuit; on a manual one it is normal maintenance.
- Food is soft, or ice cream will not stay firm — The cabinet is above temperature even if it still feels cold.
- NEAR MISS: frost on the inside of a lid in humid weather — Light frost near the opening is ordinary.

- Frost build-up insulating the cabinet or the evaporator — First, and by a clear margin: frost is an insulator, so a heavy layer stops the cold surface absorbing heat from the food and the cabinet slowly warms while the compressor runs constantly. A full defrost is both the test and, on a manual cabinet, the repair.
- Ambient temperature or a garage installation — Second: it is worth raising because the fix is siting or a different class of appliance rather than a repair.
- Lid or door seal not sealing — Less often, third: a gasket that does not seal admits warm humid air continuously, which the appliance can never catch up with and which builds the frost that makes everything worse.

- Empty the cabinet, defrost it fully, then run it with a thermometer — Temperature that returns to normal confirms frost was the whole problem.
- Note the room temperature and whether the problem is seasonal — A fault that tracks the weather points at the installation, not the appliance.
- Close the lid or door on a slip of paper and pull at several points — Easy withdrawal marks the gap; frost near that point confirms it.
