Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel - on a built-in machine find the isolating switch first, because the plug is usually unreachable. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Keep a freezer at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit, do not silence a temperature alarm without checking the cabinet, and do not refreeze food that has thawed above refrigerator temperature.
When to call
Call when a thermometer confirms the cabinet is cold and the alarm persists, because that points at the sensor or the board.
