The flash pattern is the message
A DC compressor unit reports faults through its module, usually as a repeating flash pattern rather than as a display code. Most of what those patterns report is supply related, so the panel is often the messenger rather than the fault.
What you are seeing
- An indicator flashing a repeating pattern.
- The thermostat setting appears to make no difference.
- The unit cycles on and off far more than it used to.
- A display is dim, flickering or unresponsive.
- The setting resets after the batteries have been low.
- Not this fault: A unit that never runs at all is a start fault - read that page.

Most likely causes, in Dometic order
- Module reporting a supply condition — Why ranked: First on a DC unit. Most flash patterns are about voltage or load rather than about the control itself.
- Thermostat sensor displaced from the airflow — Why ranked: Second: a sensor out of position makes the setting meaningless, and the unit cycles oddly.
- Corroded connector between panel and module — Why ranked: Third. Salt and humidity attack connectors, and the fault is intermittent with no pattern in the buttons.
- Moisture behind a panel in a humid cabin or locker — Why ranked: Fourth. Boats and vans are humid, and liquid behind a membrane gives weather-linked faults.

What to check, in order
- Count the flash pattern and write it down exactly. — Because: The pattern is the module's own report and it is the most useful thing to capture.
- Check whether the fault clears when the batteries are charged. — Because: A supply-related report disappears once the voltage recovers.
- Check the thermostat sensor is in its clip and in the airflow. — Because: A displaced sensor makes the setting meaningless and produces odd cycling.
- Isolate the unit fully, restore it, and see whether the fault returns. — Because: A fault that survives a full power cycle is not a transient.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Isolate at the battery switch before touching any DC connection. Never spray cleaner at a control panel in a humid cabin. Do not bypass a module protection to force the compressor to run. Never rely on a display that disagrees with a thermometer. Let a damp panel dry fully before restoring power.
When this becomes a service call
A flash pattern persists with the batteries fully charged. The setting makes no difference to the cabinet temperature. A connector is visibly corroded. The panel is unresponsive after a full isolation and restore.
