What a control complaint usually is
On an unbadged import the panel is the part most likely to be a generic module shared across many names, and it is also the part most exposed to steam. Steam ingress and a set control lock explain most display complaints here, and neither needs a part.
What you are seeing
- A padlock or key symbol showing and no response to any button.
- Buttons respond intermittently or need a hard press.
- The display shows a code and the cycle will not run.
- The panel behaves normally when cold and badly after a hot cycle.
- Segments of the display are missing or dim.
- Not this fault: A completely dark panel with no power at all is a start fault - read the will-not-start page.
- Not this fault: A machine that starts and stops mid-cycle is a cycle fault.
Most likely causes, in Dencrest order
- Control lock or child lock engaged — Why ranked: First because it is common, costs nothing, and produces a machine that looks broken and is not.
- Steam ingress behind the membrane at the door top edge — Why ranked: Second: this is where steam escapes, and a panel that works cold and fails after a hot cycle has named the cause itself.
- Fault code raised by a sensor, valve or drain condition — Why ranked: Third. The code is the symptom; the cause is elsewhere in the machine, and on this badge there is rarely a published table to translate it.
- Ribbon connector between panel and board unseated — Why ranked: Fourth. Heat cycling backs connectors out over time and gives intermittent faults with no pattern.
- Control board failure — Why ranked: Last, and the hardest part to source on an importer badge, which is why it belongs at the bottom rather than the top.
What to check, in order
- Look for a lock symbol and hold the lock button until it clears. — Because: This is the most common finding and it takes moments.
- Test the panel from cold, then again straight after a hot cycle. — Because: Cold-good and hot-bad is steam ingress, which is a sealing problem rather than a board problem.
- Note whether the same buttons always fail or the fault wanders. — Because: A fixed set of dead buttons is the panel; a wandering fault is a connector.
- Isolate at the breaker, restore power, and see whether the code returns. — Because: A code that returns at once on an empty cold machine points at a sensor or a valve, not a transient.
Checks you can do safely
- Hold the lock or child-lock button until any lock symbol clears. — N: 1 — Tools: None — Time: quick
- Press every button from cold and write down which respond. — N: 2 — Tools: Notepad — Time: quick
- Run a cycle, then repeat the same button test immediately afterwards. — N: 3 — Tools: Notepad — Time: one cycle
- Wipe the top edge of the door and the panel surround dry and check for gaps. — N: 4 — Tools: Cloth — Time: quick
- Switch off at the breaker, wait, restore and note any code that returns. — N: 5 — Tools: None — Time: moderate

Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Never spray cleaner at a control panel - liquid behind a membrane turns an intermittent fault into a permanent one. Do not run a machine that starts a cycle on its own - isolate it. Never bridge or bypass a control to make the machine run. Let the panel cool and dry before testing it.
When this becomes a service call
A code returns immediately on a cold, empty machine. The panel is dead from cold as well as after a cycle. The machine starts or changes programme on its own. There is visible water damage or discolouration behind the panel.

What this page does not cover
This is generalized information for dishwashers carrying the Dencrest Limited name. It prints no code table, because the spine carries no codes for this brand and appliance, and it does not separate built-in machines from countertop units. Where a family- or model-specific page exists it supersedes this one; the serial plate identifies which platform your codes belong to.
