Why the dishes come out dirty
Poor results on a compact badge-import machine are usually about water reaching the dishes rather than about the machine being weak. A small tub is easy to overload, the spray arms are short, and the filter blocks quickly. Loading and filter care fix most of these complaints outright.
What you are seeing
- Food residue left on items in one part of the rack only.
- A gritty film on everything after every cycle.
- Glasses come out cloudy and stay cloudy when dry.
- Items on the top rack are clean and the bottom rack is not.
- Dishes are wet as well as dirty at the end.
- Not this fault: A cycle that stops early leaves everything dirty - read the cycle page instead.
- Not this fault: Cold water at the end of the cycle is a heating fault.
Most likely causes, in Dencrest order
- Overloading and shadowing in a small tub — Why ranked: First on a compact machine. The tell is that the dirty items are always in the same area, where a large item blocks the spray.
- Spray arm holes blocked or the arm fouling a tall item — Why ranked: Second. Turn the arm by hand: if it stops against a handle or a tray, that alone explains a whole dirty rack.
- Filter and sump blocked with debris — Why ranked: Third: a small filter recirculates dirty water, which gives the gritty film on everything rather than a patch of dirty items.
- Detergent wrong, old or not released — Why ranked: Fourth. Detergent that stays in a blocked dispenser or has hardened in storage produces a uniformly poor wash.
- Low incoming water temperature or a heating fault — Why ranked: Last, and it presents as poor grease removal and wet dishes together rather than as food residue.
What to check, in order
- Note whether the dirty items are always in the same place. — Because: A pattern in position means loading and spray shadowing; dirt everywhere means water quality, filter or detergent.
- Turn each spray arm by hand through a full rotation with the racks loaded. — Because: An arm that catches has been catching every cycle, and it is free to find.
- Pull the filter and look at what is in the sump. — Because: A loaded filter recirculates soil and explains the gritty film.
- Check the detergent dispenser is empty at the end of the cycle. — Because: Undissolved detergent left in the cup means it never got into the wash at all.

Before you open anything
Safety
Unplug the appliance or switch off its breaker before removing any panel. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. Broken glass hides in a dishwasher filter and sump - clear them with a cloth and good light rather than with bare fingers. Never run the machine with the filter left out. Do not use hand dish soap in a dishwasher at any dose. Let the tub cool before reaching into it after a hot cycle.
When this becomes a service call
Results are poor with a clean filter, free arms and a light load. The wash water never gets hot during the cycle. The dispenser will not open during the cycle. There is a grinding noise from the sump during the wash.
