The short answer
On a DCS dishwasher, what the panel is telling you comes down to a short list, and on this line the order is not the generic one. The diagnosis starts at the seal on whichever layout you actually have — drawer lid or hinged door, because the older badge covers both layouts, so the first job is establishing which one is in front of you: the seal that fails is a different part, in a different place, in each case. The first three checks below need no tools and no parts; the point at which this stops being an owner job is stated further down, as a condition rather than as a recommendation.
What you are seeing
- The panel is blank, or lit but unresponsive to every button.
- A code or a flashing light pattern appears and stays.
- Buttons respond to some presses and not others.
- The machine selects a different cycle from the one pressed.
- The panel resets itself mid-cycle.
- A lock or delay indicator that will not clear.
- Note: Near-miss symptoms that mean a different fault: If the panel is completely dead and nothing lights, treat it as a power fault first. If the panel works and the machine stops mid-cycle, the cycle page is where the answer is. A control lock is not a fault.

Before you start
Safety
Switch the machine off at its breaker before removing the door panel or the fascia. A capacitor can hold a charge after the power is off. The control sits directly behind the fascia with line voltage on it — do not probe it energised. Never bypass a door switch to clear a fault message.
When this stops being an owner job
Call when a code returns after a full power cycle, when the panel responds to some buttons and not others, or when the code names a circuit rather than the control. Membranes and boards are matched to model and serial, and fitting the wrong one is a wasted part.
