Straight answer first
Ice on the Comfee CERS platform depends on two things: water arriving, and a compartment cold enough to freeze it — and the second fails more often here. Many cabinets in this family have no plumbed ice maker at all, which removes half the usual fault list. That is why the checks below start with the cold rather than with the ice maker itself.
What you actually observe
- The bin is empty and nothing moves — No cycle noise at all is a separate branch from ice that comes slowly.
- Mechanism noise with no output — Noise with no output means the cycle is starting but not completing.
- Ice has taken on odours — Old ice absorbs whatever is in the compartment, so slow production and stale ice travel together.
- Water freezes in the bottom of the compartment — A frozen sheet under the bin usually means too much water per cycle.
- NEAR MISS — cooling has failed generally — A warm cabinet answers the ice question, so start there.
What it usually turns out to be, in order
- Cold air not circulating inside the freezer section — On a small compartment one badly placed package closes the path, and the mould is the first thing starved.
- Compartment above ice-making temperature — Top of the list by frequency — and it is also the cause that owners are least likely to suspect when the bin goes empty.
- Door or lid leaking cold — Ranked here because it is free to test and it explains slow ice and frost together.
- Shut-off arm or sensor reading full — On compact models the bin sits tight against the arm, so it takes very little to hold it up.
Check in this order, and why
- Feel around the door for incoming air — Check the hinge side as well as the latch side — seals fail locally.
- Check what the freezer section is actually holding — A freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below, and ice production needs that same depth of cold — so this is the check that decides which half of the page applies.
- Check whether anything blocks the vents — Look for a bag pushed against the outlet or ice over the slots.
- Check the shut-off arm or sensor position — Free, instant, and it explains a complete stop better than anything else on this list.
What to do before the panel comes off
Safety
Warm water and patience clear a frozen fill tube; sharp tools do not. Water and electricity share a small space here, so dry everything before restoring power. Check the frozen food before you chase the ice: a freezer holds food safely at 0 °F (−18 °C) or below, and soft food means the fault is bigger than the ice maker.
